Rick has worked with TPI since 1978, and has become a successful Realtor, coach, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. His passion to help his clients grow has led him to develop important curriculums across multiple industries, including education, veterans’ groups, athletics, law enforcement, government agencies, and real estate.

Rick Brown has built a successful career in the real estate industry over the past 40+ years as an agent, broker, manager, owner, developer and performance consultant. As a residential agent, he was co-founder of a successful family business, manager of both a regional and a national commercial firm and partner in a development company with over $300,000,000 in properties.

He has served as the founder and Dean of the Washington DC Realtors Institute, where he has taught for over 30 years. With the National Association of Realtors, he has served as a Director and National Committee Chairman, member of Strategic Planning and Executive Committees and as Regional Vice President.

He has been recognized as the “Realtor Associate of the Year” by both the Montgomery County and the Maryland Association of Realtors and as the “Realtor of the Year” by the Washington DC Association.

As a community leader, Rick has founded charitable organizations, served as a scout leader and as a youth basketball and lacrosse coach. The National Council on the Aging named Rick as their “Community Leader of the Year” in 1990.

Rick became a facilitator of the TPI curriculum in 1978 and joined the Institute as the National Real Estate Project Director in 1990. His clients have included The National Association of Realtors, Coldwell Banker, Century 21 International, Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, The Government Services Administration and hundreds of real estate firms throughout the country. His clients, with a stronger sense of purpose and an expanded vision throughout the organization, have consistently shown growth in team morale, manager and agent retention, market share and net profit.

He also brought the TPI curriculum to the US Naval Academy Athletic Association, the Internal Revenue Service, the National Association of Counties and Long Beach Bank, 22Zero.org, Washington DC Teachers Union, Towson University Athletics, Montgomery County Maryland Police Department, and New Story Leadership.

Rick is a graduate of Towson University with a BS in Business Administration and is a veteran of the US Army Reserves. He lives on Kent Island, Maryland, with his wife Dian and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. He enjoys golf, music and sitting on the dock of the Chesapeake Bay. In 2013, Rick purchased a 1938 art deco theater on the National Register of Historic Properties and created the acclaimed 500 seat Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club.

Rick is an entertaining, thought provoking and insightful public speaker. His audiences and students are challenged to action and leave the sessions determined to make positive improvements in their business and personal lives.
